Founded in Taunton, Massachusetts in 1932,
Crown Tanks has made a name for itself providing high-quality heating oil
storage tanks for the residential market. A company with a long and rich
history, it continues to evolve its products to meet ongoing demand and new
innovations.
In the mid-90s, Crown Tank’s Taunton facility
was found to be outdated in light of emerging technologies, and it was deemed
more cost effective to build a new plant rather than retrofit. At that time,
Crown Tanks was approached by the New Brunswick provincial government and
encouraged to relocate to St. Stephen in Canada in order to take advantage of
lower labour costs and easy access to both Canadian and U.S. markets.
In 1999, Crown’s new, state-of-the-art
facility was built in St. Stephen, producing its 275 US gallon tanks. Since
then, Crown has added additional tank sizes and taping to bring the total
manufactured variants to 11, the newest being the 200 imperial gallon tank,
introduced for the Canadian market in 2004.
Crown’s tanks are all top-quality, 12-gauge
models with a high-quality powder coat finish. Even with an outstanding record
for producing trouble-free and leak-free tanks, Crown offers competitive
pricing in the Canadian oilheat market. The company excels at short turnaround
times for order completion, and in providing a wide variety of tanks for varied
applications.
Although tank regulations differ slightly
between the two countries, many issues around the technology remain the same.
Several issues/concerns regarding fuel oil storage in Canada include tank life
verses environmental risk (i.e. the older a tank gets, the more risk it is to
the environment), and tank failure from improper installation, improper
maintenance or a lack of regular inspections.
At Crown, we have an intensive leak-testing program to ensure our products meet the high safety standards and needs of homeowners. We’re committed to building higher-quality tanks that will last longer, and we actively encourage proper installation, inspection and maintenance among our customers and the industry in general.
